Bio
Julien Silvano is a multidisciplinary artist, who lives and works in France. He holds an MFA (DNSEP) from the School of Art in Grenoble (École Supérieure d’Art de Grenoble).
Along with Kalen Iwamoto, he is the co-founder of Wen New Atelier, an art and language atelier dedicated to conceptual experimentations in literature and the plastic arts. Together, they have produced book-objects, paintings generated from texts, a play cowritten with AI, blockchain reading and publishing experiments, among other works. They are also involved in the development of the poetry and art gallery, theVERSEverse.
Julien Silvano has also worked as a fine arts teacher, artistic director in the digital and fashion tech industries, and professional musician in the band Staël (AZ/Universal Music France).
About is work
His work interrogates our relationship to systems of communication and information-sharing through visual and plastic works that bring physical and digital material into dialogue. In his work, suffering/dying machines, the design of imperfection, the encounter of traditional practices and new technologies, retro-futuristic objects, human-machine interactions offer critical reflections on contemporary social and cultural phenomena.

His work has been exhibited at MAMCO (Genève), SMM Gallery (Berlin), and more recently, at l’Avant Galerie Vossen (Paris), Librairie Galerie Métamorphoses (Paris), ZeroSpace (New York), Binálé Digital Art (Budapest), Nowhere Gallery (New York), Expanded.art (Berlin), among other venues.

Bio
Julien Silvano est un artiste plasticien pluridisciplinaire qui vit et travaille en France. Il est titulaire d’un DNSEP (MFA) de l’École Supérieure d’Art de Grenoble.
Il est co-fondateur avec l’artiste écrivaine Kalen Iwamoto de Wen New Atelier, un atelier art et langage dédié à l’expérimentation conceptuelle autour des arts plastiques et de la littérature. Ensemble ils produisent des livres-objets, des peintures générées à partir de textes, du théâtre co-écrit avec des intelligences artificielles ou encore des expériences de lecture et de publication sur les blockchains. Ils participent également au développement de la galerie art et littérature theVERSEverse.
Julien Silvano a également été professeur d’arts plastiques, directeur artistique dans le digital et la fashiontech, et musicien professionnel avec le groupe Staël (AZ/Universal Music France).
Démarche
Son travail questionne notre rapport aux systèmes de communication et de diffusion de l’information à travers des dispositifs plastiques où dialoguent matière physique et matière digitale. Machines agonisantes, design de l’imperfection, confrontation des pratiques traditionnelles et des nouvelles technologies, objets rétro-futuristes ou encore interactions homme-machine agissent de manière réflexive et critique autour de thématiques sociétales contemporaines.
